Vintage Simplicity 6000 and The Rising 4th Grader

I told you plans were subject to change...and change they did. Well, a forgotten project had to be sewn up and worn at the last minute. It is Simplicity 6000, a vintage circa 1983. It's for my daughter, Cheyenne who requested a new dress for her 3rd grade award ceremony to day. Being very VERY last minute, she still got a cute a dress and wants another one. In her words, "Ma, can we make it wider or give me a zipper or something?!" We had to put it on her with hands held high and strategically pulled over her head. I didn't think it would take all this to put it on and it's not even tight. Not at all. The pattern called for fabrics such as Calico, Broadcloth, and lightweight linen types. I used a poly that I had bought to be for a lining of some garment that never got sewn up.

Thank you, Far! Her staple is bows and beads. She'll prefer those to any other style.

Thank you, Sew Blessed Maw! I love sewing from the stash but I think I'm catching the bug-to-buy-more-new! Ah well, I'll go grab some meds (wonderful stash fabric) and get well soon.

You did really well instantly whipping up such a pretty dress. Your daughter looks absolutely gorgeous and I have no doubt you will make more dresses for her, even with zippers if she insists :)

Isn't it wonderful when our daughters are so obviously delighted to wear what we make for them! The blue is perfect and what a lovely smile!
