November already...What about Next Year as well?

Hi everyone,

We are entering November, which means we only have another two months of this sew-a-long left.

A couple of you have said it will be nice to keep going - it seems we all enjoy being part of a small group working towards mutual sewing goals.

I just thought I would ask you what your thoughts were?  We could keep going, or start a different sort of group and adjust our plans to suit everyones needs. I've also started a challenge on my home blog, and again, find that people do want to be involved with a community.

If we want a group meeting place somewhere, I will look into that.

Do let me know what you would all think....

Hi Sarah Liz, I have really enjoyed being part of this group, I know my contribution to the total stash used is pretty small but it's really helped me. There's no pressure and tons of support from everyone which is lovely. However, I do appreciate this is a lot of work for you so please don't feel that you have to commit to this beyond the end of December, I realise you have a busy life and this is all extra work for you x

I echo Jacq C thoughts, it has been great, but the work from your end is huge. Each week I love seeing what other people whip up out of the stash, which then motivates me to look at my own fabric in a different light. But I don't ever think I will fully empty my stash down to the last remaining piece of fabric ... J

Hello Sarah Liz,
I would love for us to continue as it's a great place to meet fellow sewing fans, but echoing everyone's thoughts, I wouldn't want this to be an over bearing task for you - this is supposed to be fun for everyone, especially for you. Maybe we could find a way to help out - I don't know how, but maybe someone could come up with some ideas to share the workload?

Like Judith I don't think I will ever get to the bottom of my stash, but in the last 2 months I have made loads of clothes and have positive plans to make more. 2 months ago, all I had were boxes of fabric and patterns. Handmade clothes are much more interesting to look at than boxes of fabric! So I thank you for that and everyone's comments and encouragement :)

I need it to go on. Having managed group blogs before, my suggestion would be to drop the gallery and just keep the running posts. The total yardage could either be dropped, or it's up to each of us to update the total after we post about our project.

I just looked at the settings....since we don't have access to anything but the post option as guest bloggers, my yardage idea wouldn't work. Maybe a volunteer to total the yardage for the month and report to us.

I would definitely like this to keep going! It's nice to have some fellow sewers who all appreciate each others makes and give each other advice.

I really enjoy stopping here to read everyone's posts and then venturing to their own blogs. I am loving the low pressure style of the challenge. So, I'm in if you're in.

I have enjoyed this. If you are up to keeping it going, I am all in. I truly like that you did this and definitely has allowed me to meet even more sewists and bloggers.

I'd love to check in throughout the winter. The gallery is nice, but I just like to check posts. I do love the idea of total yardage though and if we do continue, hope that is part of our plans. I travel all winter and do sew, but not as much, and not with a lot of accuracy. :-)

Hi everyone - thanks for your feedback. I'll keep this going - the hardest bit was setting it up - over time we have developed a core group, so it is much easier now!

Yes, Marjorie, no-one has access except me - but we could set up a dedicated labelled post that we can all go to - then I can take the info from there.

This sew-a-long has helped me come to terms with my stash and start sewing it as well :)
